Bridlington a Working Harbour

Bridlington is a working harbour where fish, crabs and lobster are unloaded every day. This view is of part of the harbour and in the distance you can see the loading dock for the deep sea trawlers. Also the large freezer trucks that move the catches all over the country.

Here you have one of the larger ocean going trawlers that fish for days at a time. I'm guessing that H56 is a trawler register in Hull. Not sure i could fish on one of these.

Here you have one of the local fishing boats "The Yorkshire Lass II" These boats do fishing trips for locals and tourists every day. On these you fish with rod and line.
When i was a kid i used to go fishing on these boats every summer holiday. We'd be up at 6am and on the boat for 6.30 for a 2 hour fishing trip. We also went back at 6pm for a second trip. I remember one time my dad said we could take the catch back to the boarding house we were staying. Everyone on the boat gave us their catch. We took them back and it fed everyone in the boarding house.

You also get the crab and lobster fishermen. If they are not out at sea then you can see them cleaning and mending their lobster pots and creels.
