Kydra Athletics 2-in-1 Flex Shorts 3.0 Review

in #fitness5 years ago (edited)

Third time is the charm as the Kydra Flex Shorts V3 is a refined and polished active and everyday wear you'll only ever need. The waist drawstring is dramatically improved, my favourite side zip media pocket is deeper for modern smartphone sizes and the compression tights are a better fit. They are as breathable as ever and super lightweight that I always find myself reaching for these shorts inside and out.

  • Body 89% Polyester, 11% Spandex
  • Base Layer 71% Nylon, 29% Spandex
  • Mesh 85% Polyester, 15% Lycra
  • Water-repellent Fabric
  • Colours Marine, Black
  • Side Media Zip Pocket
  • Breathable Ventilation Panels
  • Rear velcro card and open pocket

Breathable Everyday Activewear

No stranger to activewear, the Kydra Flex Shorts V3 is the third evolution from the original Flex Shorts. I've gone through the journey as the team continuously improve with each feedback, improving the overall experience. With the third generation, I think they've finally perfected it.

A new marine colour offers a two tone design - the mesh panels and compression layer underneath are black, while the exterior body is in marine. This striking combination accentuates the features of the 2-in-1 Flex Shorts, more than the sleek but standard black. As an everyday and active short, it's as functional as ever - the range of deep, shallow and secured pockets inspire greater confidence carrying my wallet, phone, keys and coins without falling out.

Performance in the Elements

Out in the cold, icy elements of Norway, I still set out for my hikes, walks and jogs outdoors. The air is chilly, the ocean waves breezy and the white mountains scenic to hike. For all of these activities, the base layer tights give that extra muscle compression for the thighs while offering unrestricted flex-motion. Even though they feel a bit weighty when you hold it, putting them on is a different story. Like the rest of the Kydra range, they are super light and breathable.

The mesh panels on the inside leg and inner mesh pockets make these super breathable to wear and are refreshing in the cold winds. During intense sessions, the moisture-wicking blend of polyester, nylon, lycra and spandex result in a comfortable experience that doesn't leave your skin very sweaty.

As an everyday short, these sit above the knees for a modern outfi. The fly design in the middle give it a leisure look you can dress up or down with. For something more subtle, the black works great if you plan on wearing them regularly and across different occasions.

Perfected Pockets for Exercise

The zipped-side pocket is still hands down an intuitive addition and with the Kydra Flex Shorts V3, they are upgraded for modern standards. The problem I had with V1 and V2 is that my phone wouldn't fit inside because it was too shallow. Now, big phone fans can rejoice as the iPhone XS Max, Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and other large devices can slot inside for those runs or crowded streets.

The pockets are ballistic nylon which are tear and cut proof so you can exercise without worries it'll fall out from a hole or such. The fact it's held by your hip on the side means it never gets in the way of your running action, or that you even feel it is there. By design, it outperforms other active shorts which simply offer a zipped front pocket or pocket in the compression leg - you feel the weight, it becomes a nuisance and affects your concentration. The Kydra Flex Shorts V3 lets you focus on your workout session and go 100%.

And For Lifestyle Too

There are two rear pockets, both on the right side (confusing from the left and right combination on the Joggers) and above and beow each other. The top one is a secured, shallow pocket for your cards or small wallet, held by velcro. Like the joggers, I'd feel more assured if the Velcro was wider for add security since I carry multiple cards or may want to put my keys in here when the site pocket is holding my phone.

The open pocket below is fine for quick access or larger wallets that I've had no problem with. Overall the pockets are superb with a little improvement on the card pocket to mate it complete for me.

Flex You Won't Want to Be Without

It's hard not to say these are my definitive shorts to wear for those active days out. They are also super comfortable to wear inside. The Kydra Flex Shorts V3 could be the perfected version that I can't really see how it could be significantly improved. But Kydra what's surprises me so there's hope yet. Until then, these badass shorts are going everywhere with me as the only shots I need.

Howdy from Texas onetechtraveller! what an awesome post! I don't think I've ever seen a steemit post about a review of shorts so this is great and a great idea, I hope there are more like it.
Do you do other product reviews or is this a one time thing? And where are you located? Looks like you have some amazing views of mountains there.

Janton, big up to you in Texas, hope you're doing great! Thanks a bunch for the feedback, glad to hear you enjoy and appreciated the post!

Yes I do product reviews across travel, lifestyle, gear and tech so you can expect a lot of product reviews, stories from me :) I've been doing this for 2 years and have my own website with my name where I post it first. I wanted to share it with the steemit community to help people travel smart and live smart.

I'm based in the UK but currently in Norway on a travel project, residing in The Lofoten Islands. Mountains are stunning, will share my views on living out there. Hope to see you around :)

thank you so much onetechtraveller you have a great weekend also!

hey man! love the review! if you could put your steemit link on any of your blog site or other social media page, that would be awesome! just to verify that this is really you and not some impersonator. have a good day! :)

That is a flipp'n awesome idea. We need some kind of validation on steem for bloggers etc. who are well known on other platforms. There's one on here posting Grant Cardone stuff that claims to be Grant, but I'm not so sure. There are accounts for a lot of well known personalities that don't have any activity on here as well.

Hey buddy! Thanks for the awesome feedback and yeah a validation process would be great as I've recently joined the Steemit network and love to share my thoughtful travel stories and gear reviews to a community of readers.

I've added my steemit account to my facebook, youtube and on the bottom of each post the link to my website. It seems to be on a post by post basis.

Thanks for the great feedback and hope thy will implement something in the near future.

Cool bro! Thanks!

I would even wear them just to go out, they are very nice and by your specifications I find them very comfortable, maybe I should try them, I'm somewhat allergic to acrylic fabrics.

I like that the pockets are made with ballistic nylon, I have had loss of cell phones, money and other things because of holes in the pockets. that is unfortunate.

The rest if you do well in that cold that does in Norway then in the tropical heat of Venezuela will go just as well. :D

Thanks for sharing.

greetings, peace and love

Find myself wearing hem everyday, regardless of temperature! Just so good for normal wear and when geting active, the side zip pocket is ingenius.

Yeah the ballistic nylon material gives it a really durable feel and premium build quality, and you cant go wrong with added compression for when things get sweaty.

Haha you'll be perfectly fine out in Venezuela brother!

Hah I'd never say this is in Norway. I mean - there's no way of saying but you for sure don't look like typical norwegian guy :D

Haha but I am! Nah just kidding, you're right :) I'm staying in Norway for 6.5 weeks and in my final 2. Thought it was a great way to test these shorts since I like to be active. I'm in the Lofoten Islands and from the UK :D

Look very comfortable and if you are able to do some stretching and fitness exercises without problem they should be fine for hiking and of course jogging. I do not like heavy jogging trousers, although the do not have much weight, but I have a feeling at the end of the run that they are so heavy and pulling down. This is a great to have such fashionable short and also very comfortable pockets. Thank you for review :)

These are perfect for that - the compression layer adds that extra strength for hikes, feel lightweight and free-flowing when exercising with thoughtful pockets to store your phone and wallet securely without weighing you down. Super fashion and the fly design in the middle has meant I've felt confident moving from the gym to a day out no problems :) I've reviewed many other Kydra sportswear on my website if you wanted to see more.

What a great review! It looks like you are really happy with this product and it's visible on your review. This is why I like it. It's good to learn about your own experience with the shorts. My hubby is looking for functional shorts for too long.. and he hasn't been happy with what he got yet. I'll look into these as I'm sure he would love them. And that pocket is cool!

Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for the love and feedback! Really put them to the test and really could not fault it in the ways I used them. Worn the 3 generations and can definitely say they've been stellar. Your hubby would really enjoy them.

Which shorts has he tried do you know? I share a lot of my gear reviews on my site if you'd like to check out more (I post to steem once a day) :)

And yup, the pocket is my favourite!
