Fitness Blender's HIIT and Pilates Blend

If you workout at home, this is a video you need to have in your repertoire. I just finished this video and muscles I didn’t even know I had are talking to me. I love pilates for this reason, it targets different muscle groups than regular bodyweight exercises and seemingly easy sequences can leave your limbs burning. Although I love pilates, it’s not an exercise style I do often, as it doesn’t have as high a calorie burn as other training methods like cardio.

Fortunately, this video from Fitness Blender combines high intensity interval training with pilates moves, for a workout that strengthens, lengthens, tones, and burns. The HIIT portion of the video works to bump up the calorie burn, while the pilates portion works to tone and stretch your muscles.

If you are new to HIIT, this is a great place to start. The 30 second intervals of high intensity cardio exercises don’t seem as daunting when followed by a low key stretching pilates sequence.

That said, this is still a great workout for people experienced with HIIT, as it is always a good idea to surprise your muscles with new exercises, and the pilates portion will do just that.
