My entry for the 🌸 FLOWER POWER PHOTO CONTEST BY FLAMINGIRL 🌸

This is my 5th submission to #flowerpower photo contest by @flamingirl. Go go #FlowerPower! 2 more days to go. To date I have got daisy bouquets, then some gorgeous charming water lilies, then yellow orchids and yesterday was colorful lantana. It is quite interesting to actually fill your 7 days with flowers. I feel that blogging this week with this activity decorates my steemit walls. Lovely activities this week and thank you @Flamingirl for steeming this topic :D

Day 5 (Friday, April 12th): Purple Orchids

These purple orchids made a beautiful addition for your garden. So bright and cheerful. They made your days more colorful.

Here's my poem for this exotic purple flowers that have been held in high regard since ancient times. It symbolizes Love, Beauty, Fertility, Refinement, Thoughtfulness and Charm.

Purple Orchids in Sunlight

Hello! she said in her purple smile
Wrapped in her purple scarf
She wore her purple dress,
And she dances to the wind
The wind caresses her body
She surrenders to the sunlight
Beaming with pleasure
And then that purple Orchid whispers to me...
"Hey, we are one with the sunlight!”

What Does the Orchid Flower Mean?
The orchid has been held in high regard since ancient times. It symbolizes Love, Beauty, Fertility, Refinement, Thoughtfulness and Charm.

Etymological Meaning of the Orchid Flower
Orchids (Orchidaceae family) earned their name from the Greek word orchis, meaning testicle. Their fleshy underground tubers were thought to resemble testicles, at least that’s what Greek botanist Theophrastus thought at the time.

The Orchid Flower Facts
Orchid plants and flowers range in size and shape. Many grow in the understory of tropical forests, producing delicate blooms in a wide array of colors. While some are tiny plants, only a few inches tall, others like the Vanilla orchid grow on towering vines. The Vanilla orchid is native to Mesoamerica where the Totonaco Indians cultivated it. According to ancient Totonaco legend, the vanilla orchid sprung from the blood of Princess Xanat when she and her lover were beheaded for disobeying her father’s wishes. Although the Chinese have cultivated orchids for over 3,000 years, it was not until the 1600s that visitors to the Far East brought orchids to Europe. By 1802 orchids were raised from seed and by 1856, the first cultivated hybrid was developed. Source
