This is my 4th submission to #flowerpower photo contest by @flamingirl. Go go #FlowerPower! 3 more days to go. The first day I have got daisy bouquets, then some gorgeous charming water lilies and then yesterday, it was yellow orchids. It is quite interesting to actually fill your 7 days with flowers. I feel that blogging this week with this activity decorates my steemit walls. Lovely activities this week and thank you @Flamingirl for steeming this topic :D
Day 4 (Thursday, April 11th): The Colorful and Heat Tolerant Lantana
Here's my poem for this colorful flowers
Colorful Lantana in Sunlight
Hello! she said in her colorful smile
Wrapped in her colorful scarf
She wore her colorful dress,
And she dances to the wind
The wind caresses her body
She surrenders to the sunlight
Beaming with pleasure
And Lantana whispers to me...
"Hey, we are one with the sunlight!”
About Lantana Source
Lantana, or scientifically known as Lantana camara, is a hardy and persistent floriferous shrub. It can thrive in a hot and sunny area, without much cultural concern, almost spreading and growing like weeds. The plant usually grows to a woody shrub almost 2 feet tall. Flowers form in small clusters, which are often comprised of individual flowers that start out one color and mature to another, giving each cluster a multicolored effect. It is like a miniature Santan but with a much brighter and more colorful effect.
Some flowers are a single color, while others could be two to three color combinations. Butterflies adore the newly opened florets, making Lantana a favorite and a leading plant for any butterfly garden. The plant also emits a peculiar aromatic smell when leaves or branches are crushed.
Lantana is easy to cultivate, almost growing independently and oftentimes widespread like a weed. It thrives in full hot, bright sun. it will benefit from regular watering and fertilization. The plant is usually handled like an annual plant, regularly pruning it each season or year, removing dead branches to produce new shoots with colorful flowers. Source
