Boont: Fearsome Critter

in #folklore5 years ago

A strange forest hybrid, this legendary fearsome critter has all the regular anatomy of a large bear, however it is said to be equipped with a set of impressive antlers.

Not much is known of the Boont, as the creature likes to keep to himself. Also, unlike other fearsome critters of North American Folklore, the Boont's territory is rather small. Spotted only in the Northern California region with most sightings in or around Boonville.

Boonville is a unique town in itself for reasons other than being the home of this mythological antlered bear. The small Californian town has a unique dialect that blends English with Scottish Gaelic and Irish. The Boonville language, rarely spoken today, is known as Boontling. Some locals swear that Boontling is also understood by the antlered deer.

The unofficial mascot of Boonville, the Boont is even featured on bottles of beer from a Boonville local brewery: Anderson Valley Brewing company.

Thank you for this information about this scary bear. It is already a huge bear and I see a picture scattered on beer cans as you said

Ha a bear with antlers. Not as unique and extraordinary as some of the other fearsome critters but I suppose not all creatures can be extrodinary. Kind of reminds my of a jackalope. Cool mascot for a brewing company though.
