Michigan Dogman: North American Folklore
The legendary Michigan Dogman has had recorded sightings since 1887, but stories of this half man/half canine creature go much further back. It is said that he has been seen along the shores of Manistee River long ago, when the area was occupied by the Odwaa tribe.
The Michigan Dogman is said to be a bipedal creature, with a man's body, but the face and fangs of a bloodthirsty dog. According to lore, he can jump to incredible heights, and often leaps great distances to attack. His fur is black in color, which gives him the ability to blend in with the night. The Michigan Dogman's scream is said to be a horrendous thing. Legends of his terrible howl say that it is similar to an infant's scream, high-pitched and alarming.
There are hundreds of sightings of the Michigan Dogman. Most all of these report that the Dogman is at least six feet tall, with petrifying, gleaming eyes.
The strangest thing about the Michigan Dogman is that he only appears every ten years. Sightings of this beast have only been reported on years that end in seven. Those who liken the creature to the infamous Beast of Bray Road, can rule out the possibility of them being the same creature, as there is no method for sightings when it comes to the Beast of Bray Road.
In 1937, a man in Paris, Michigan reported being attacked by five dogs, the fifth of who walked on the legs of a man. This lends to the idea that the evil creature can lead our beloved canine pets into evil, with an alpha like control.
That is pretty awesome that you covered this. There is actually a song that a local artist wrote and they play it on some of the local radio stations. The Manistee river has some decent fishing and there are acres and acres of forest for miles. It isn't beyond the scope of reason that something could be living out there.
I've lived in Michigan my whole life, so this post was especially special to me :)

Hey, no problem, like I said it is kind of a local thing. They play it quite a bit on our favorite radio station in the northern lower peninsula. Michigan is a beautiful place with lots of secrets. You should check out the Huron Mountain club if you are into the whole secret society type things...

It is interesting that the creature only appears every 10 years. That's quite strange. Also, the wail or howl that is like an infant's scream actually makes it sound scarier to me. I'm not sure why though.
