How To Make Homemade Pickles | Fermentation Process

Homemade Pickles!


Hi y'all, Thanks for joining me today. I want to show you how easy is is to make homemade pickles! They are nice and crunchy, the garlic isn't overpowering, the seasoning is simple but all the right ones and best of all, you know what is in these pickles (no crazy stuff haha) and they are full of healthy probiotics, perfect for gut health!

Homemade Pickles

About 2 pounds of cucumbers
3-4 Cloves of Garlic cut into small pieces
1 t dill seed
½ t coriander seed
2 T Pink Himalayan Salt or Sea Salt
Water

Wash your cucumbers really well and if you want cut them in slices or spears (I left mine whole). Add your cucumbers to your jars or jar and add in garlic, dill, and coriander seeds. Boil two cups of water and add salt and stir until the salt dissolves. Add in about two cups of ice or ice-cold water to your boiling water and stir. Wait till the water is at room temp and add it to your jars that you placed your pickles into. If your using fermenting weight add those in and the lids with the silicon lids. If not close them with your lids and every few days or day burp your pickles. Place jars in a shallow dish and ferment about 3-4 days. After they are at the level of sourness you like refrigerator. Enjoy!

Pretty cool your recipe. Whenever I hear pickles, think on Mac Donalds propaganda of the Big Mac hahaha. I think the first time I tried pickles was eating a big mac. Is something really yummy right, mainly because of the way in which it is stored. Gives a special taste.

Talking about your video, I say, once I saw a joke saying that when her husband fighting with his wife, just go to the kitchen and close with all the pots force hahaha.

Excellent recipe that you put and very practical in my opinion.

Another thing is that I'm trying to overcome my shyness to start to make videos and post on dtube and dlive. See the videos of the people I follow here and yours are one of the leading I look to learn how to speak well in public and in a simple way. I think you write very well, but I'm shy to talk. I hope you will be good at least. I'm putting together a series on my dog and I think in the middle of next week I will put my first video on it.

YUMMY! I love homemade pickles! We used to grow pickling cucumbers all the time in our backyard growing up and my mom would make dill pickles. Another great video Lydia! :)

I just started gardening this year so not sure if its the best pickling cucumbers we planted but yeah haha it worked out.

I think any small cucumbers will work haha, but yeah if you look at the seed packets like at Home Depot, Lowes, Any garden center really, you will generally find a pickling variety. :)

This is amazing. We just made a batch of homemade pickles and pickled beans two weeks ago. The veggies came straight from our garden. It was my first time making pickles. The kids had a blast helping out with everything. I am looking forward to tasing them in a couple weeks.

The thought of canning pickles just doesn't call out to me but fermenting them, that looks like the way to go.
