Today was the highly anticipated Amazeballs Arancini first birthday party at Mr.Watkins, Penrith.

After the amazing food and service we received weeks ago I had high expectations on both. And after posting photos of my Arancini delivery our plus 1 was also looking forward to arancinis of the spinach and feta variety.

The event started at 12pm. We arrived at 1pm having stopped by Bunnings to check out garden beds.

Mr. Watkins is a funky FUNKY place with loads of character and stuffed animals... and not the fluffy cuddly type either..

Despite the quirky nature of the venue it still had it's own charm and a great band playing to match the atmosphere.

What did really please me was the bar's willingness to accommodate me by making a special mocktail off menu.

I don't know what this is but it was delicious.

What didn't please me were the smell of cigarettes floating straight to our table from outside AND watching food sail past us several times AND watching tables get served multiple times while we were overlooked time and time again.

That said. When the food finally arrived it was delicious.

This one especially.. I don't know what it was but I could eat 10 of these easy.

This one, eh... But I was hungry and I am accustomed to feeding the body when I need to.

Disappointed. Over the waiting. Not knowing when we'll get food again, we had our last arancini, left and headed to the Bavarian at 2:30pm.

The Bavarian

The last time we've been to the Bavarian was when we had the @TeamAustralia meet up last year at Parramatta.

I didn't know there was a Bavarian at Penrith up til a few days ago and tell ya what those big ass share platters were looking damn good after going all day with only 3 arancinis to sustain bub nugget and I.

But we got there and suddenly thoughts of piles of meat were over taken by my need to feed my sweet tooth.

Nothing like something sweet like an apple strudel with vanilla ice cream to turn my frown upside down.

As for the boys... Well nothing a beer can't fix..

I had planned to order a meal after my dessert but was surprised to find the huge strudel filled me to satisfaction.

It was the first time today that I was no longer hungry.

Hits and Misses

👍 Mr. Watkins although the taxidermy was a bit odd, the fact that they made me a mocktail on the fly says a lot about them and the bar man's skills and for that I would absolutely recommend them.
👎 If you don't want to second hand smoke sit right at the back of the establishment. Also if you're not keen on taxidermy this is not a place for you.

👍 That one arancini was beautiful and I would definitely buy it by the bucket loads.
👎 Customer service. Not so Amazeballs.

👍 The Bavarian was the hero of the day with that big serve of apple strudel and ice cream.
👎 Sunday surcharge. Not so hot.

And that wraps up the food aspect of my day.

The Bunnings trip deserves it's own post coming sometime this week, cos we have big plans for the garden, so watch out for that!
