Mango Rice Pudding : Vegan Recipe

in #food6 years ago

Rice pudding is a very popular dish of the Indian kitchen prepared on various occasions. This non-vegan recipe was my one of the favourite when I was not vegan. After turning vegan I started to make its vegan version by replacing animal milk with plant-based milk specially home-made almond milk.
As mango season in its last phase so I decided to give it a try with mango, so it becomes Mango Rice Pudding

Ingredients-

  • Almond milk 1 liter (I made with 1/2 cup of almonds)
  • Basmati rice 1/4 cup
  • Sugar 1/2 cup or according to taste.
  • Nuts of your choice 1/4 cup
  • Raisins 1/4 cup
  • Cardamom powder 1 tsp
  • Ripe Mango 1 no

Procedure-

  • Heat almond milk in a heavy bottom pan and bring it to a boil.
  • Add pre-soaked rice and stir well. Cook rice properly.
  • Once rice is cooked add mango dice and sugar, simmer for about 15 minutes.
  • Add raisins and chopped nuts and turn off the flame after 2-3 minutes.
  • Add cardamom powder and mix well.

The advantage of rice pudding is that it can be served hot as well as chilled and in both the condition its taste great. To enjoy both tastes serve half of the quantity immediately and keep half in the fridge to enjoy chilled.

Hi @chetanpadliya Wonderful and delicious your post.

The vegan breakfast mango rice pudding with Coconut makes a perfect treat in the morning!

Ah, mango. So summer delicious. Mixed with a bit of coconut and you have a truly summer time friendly rice pudding. It’s thick and creamy, but the mango gives this pudding a surprisingly delicate pop of sweet-freshness. Then, sprinkled on top, crispy toasted coconut flakes…

That’s right, I spread out a white dish towel and on it, placed my freshly made Mango Coconut Rice Pudding.

Have a nice night
A hug

hi chetan,
Nice receipe.
But you mentioned animal milk as Non.Vegan....? U meant cow milk is Non-Veg? Shocking.......!!
Can you pls throw some light on it.
Also nice to see your ranking(65). Any special tip would you like to share so that i reach your level. Joined steemit 20 days back. Also how you got voted from minnowbooster?

Thanks

You are right @vihanehal . Milk is non-veg, there is nothing shocking! Anything obtained from an animal is not at all vegetarian because vegetarian itself means something obtained from the plant source and milk does not grow on plants. It is a mammary secretion of a nursing mother and it is a food for that baby not of other species.
Work hard and write/post original content to grow on steemit.

OK thanks ChetanJi,
Thats a new information for me.

wao wao looking delicious i love indian food keep sharing indian recopies guys : )

Nice recepie

Very Delicious 😋😋😋

Basically, this is just a flake made with rice. Looks very tasty

If i'm correct then its Indian Kheer with Mango Toppings

Yes, Indian kheer with mango topping but it is vegan made of plant-based milk instead of any animal milk.

Yeah I read it.. It’s a great initiative for animal.. Do you have any awareness blog or any other page where I can find more information about plant vegan milks..

Question: I have tried Soya milk some time but not sure about plant milk.. Does plant based milk contain same level of ingredients so that we can consider it for alternative even to feed kids..

Cheers 'Dev

You can join our page on www.facebook/boycottmilk for more details. There are so many types of plant milk like soy, almond., coconut milk, oats milk, cashew milk etc. These all can be used to make various recipes.
For children only mother's milk is enough and after that no milk is required. Human being drinking animal milk till death is completely foolishness.

Thats enlightening, caz in india almost every family including mine consumes milk keep that in mind that it adds a value to our meal .. I believe yes it is but as you said there are alternative that mean it's better to switch.

Cheers

Hey Chetan,

After your comment I was exploring the FB page but it more of junk information .. I can't find the information I was looking like you have suggest about alternative sources of milk .. anyways I will do my research too if you come across any good page or protal which can provide authentic info then kindly do share ..

Cheers
