Ulog #28: My fave comfort food

Among a lot of food I like to eat, my all-time favourite comfort food has got to be fried chicken. I'm sure it's not that hard to figure out since my profile picture is... well.. a drumstick.

Ever since I was a kid I loved eating fried chicken. Having a chicken drumsticks in one hand wrapped with a serviette at the knob and munching away is what I remember doing a lot in my childhood.

I always got the drumstick and wondered why my parents didn't eat them. My dad likes the chicken breast more than the thighs so that was understandable. But I found out that my Mum liked the chicken thigh and drumstick as well. So when I was younger I always got it coz my Mum loved me more than.... chicken drumsticks I suppose 😊

I'm learning from my Mum on this and especially since I've gotten married, I normally give the chicken thighs and drumsticks to my wife and son... and also my mum.

I've gotten a new favourite part though, the chicken wing. Of course, give me a whole bird and I'll down the whole chicken in one sitting.

Side Story

In my early twenties, I once asked God about a situation I experienced in my childhood which left me feeling I wasn't loved or good enough. I asked God, "Where were you when that happened?". I was brought back to that incident in a vision which I was crying in and God walked to me with a bucket of fried chicken and gave them to me.

I guess my connection with fried chicken means a lot more than just food to eat because of this and I always remember that when I'm feeling down that my comfort is found in God who always remembers and appreciates me.
