Ulog #66: Malaysian Dessert - 'Pulut Hitam'
There are a lot of Malaysian desserts and my favorite among so many to choose from has got to be the 'Pulut Hitam'.
Pulut hitam is a dessert made out of black glutinous rice and coconut milk. It is then sweetened with palm sugar and rock sugar. With the consistency of rice porridge, pulut hitam is very rich and creamy in texture and flavor.
It also has the 'pandan leaves' when you cook it so it gives a wonderful aroma and fragrance to the dish. The coconut milk is extremely key as it adds the needed creaminess to the "porridge".
If you are ever around in Malaysia, you have to get a bowl of this. Not every stall that has this makes this perfectly though so make sure you get the locals to tell you where to get the best ones.
Ahh just writing about this makes me wanna get a bowl of this right now. Absolutely delicious!
