Leaked FDA Study Finds Widespread Contamination Of Meat and Seafood Samples But Says Its Nothing To Worry About
A U.S. FDA study was recently leaked that details widespread contamination of "forever chemicals" in many grocery items on the shelves today. This includes things like seafood, meat, and milk products. That study hasn't been made public, though details of the investigation have been presented at a scientific conference in Helsinki.
There are plans to now release the study to the public though after details were leaked to different media outlets in the United States allegedly by environmental groups.
Those chemicals in question are known as PFAS and have been dubbed "forever chemicals" because they are predicted to take thousands of years before they degrade. Some states have sought to establish certain standards for testing for these chemicals in drinking water etc, the chemicals are still widely found in items being sold on shelves today.
In their investigation the FDA found substantial levels of these industrial compounds in certain seafood samples, meats, even in chocolate cake. The levels that they detected in many seafood and meat samples were allegedly double the currently established federal advisory levels or worse.
They found the levels in chocolate cake to be higher, more than 250x higher than federal guidelines.
