My Experience Eating at Cuisine Wat Damnak in Siem Reap, Cambodia (PHOTO SERIES)
Introduction to Cuisine Wat Damnak
This is an upscale restaurant located in Siem Reap near the Wat Damnak temple, which is how the restaurant is named. It incorporates many elements of Cambodian cuisine, and elevates it to the next level combining with Western cuisine.
That being said, I honestly felt like the experience eating at Embassy Restaurant was much more of a "high-end" experience over eating at Cuisine Wat Damnak. For the same prices, Embassy Restaurant presented more of a Michelin-like experience, while Cuisine Wat Damnak really fell short with a few of the dish flavors as well as the customer and table service.
Below is their two menu experiences, and I've listed them out so you can check out what the dining experience is like for both:
First Menu Experience
Amuse-bouche
Pineapple marinated maam with cripsy pork breast
Grilled Sanday fish with wild betel leaves
Mekong langoustine and water lily stem sour soup
Stir-fried boneless frog leg with mushroom
Dark chocolate and holy basil light ganache
Second Menu Experience
Amuse Bouche
Slow cooked beef cheek
Black sticky rice porridge
Tonle Sap croacker fish spicy jungle curry
Pan fried eggplant with minced pork and prawn
Pumpkin Cake
Which one was better?
Out of the two menus, the second one was hand down the better one, since each dish had flavors.
For the first one, the two dishes that were the MOST disappointing was the Mekong langoustine soup as it had zero flavor as well as the Dark chocolate dessert that also had zero flavor.
Would you eat at Cuisine Wat Damnak if you were in Siem Reap?
Definately the second menu was the best of both and I also like the black sticky rice porridge and the Slow cooked beef cheek @hustletoparadise
classical dishes @hustletoparadise. these look so wonderful yummy and tasty as well. surely this restaurant makes some fabulous dishes. really like the presentation and variety

I prefer the second menu, because I love Pumpkin Cake.
