Sharing on how to cook "Tong Sui" or Chinese Dessert that is good and healthy using 6 nutrients that will improve youhr health status

These are the 6 ingredients i used to cook this dessert. I will introduce each item and what are their goodness to this dish. My mum taught me to cook this dish sometime back and i have been cooking this occasionally.

These are Dried Lotus Seeds, which has been used in traditional chinese medicine. Have been known to be good for diabetes, treating insomnia, ulcers, sore mouths, improve urination, maintaining blood pressure, good for cardiovascular health and healing of inflammation and infection.
Before cooking, will need to take the center greenish stem out as it is bitter and cannot be eaten. So i will soak these dried lotus seeds in hot water and open each to take the green stem out.

This next ingredient is call the wolfberries. These are sold as dried and vacuum packed. They are good to treat dry skin and dry cough. They are known to promote good health with their nutritious value.
As they are high in Micronutrients, they are a great source of vitamin A and C. Many drink wolfberries daily to increase iron besides the vitamins intake.

Wolfberries provide a variety of antioxidants, also reduced blood sugar and cholesterol. Therefore many people uses Wolfberries for cooking their daily dishes by adding a couple of them to their soup and vegetables.

Rock sugar is usually used as a drink or candy snack. Used in cooking for soup and braised dishes to give the meat a more delicate flavor. It is less sweet than refined sugar, it is actually crystallized raw sugar.

It has been reported that in cold and flu season when throats often get parched and sore. adding rock sugar to green tea improves the body's immunity and helps ward off laryngitis.

Many uses these rock sugar to cook desserts and for double boiling with the expensive "bird's nest" as a delicacies.

Lily bulbs is known to associate with the lung and heart meridians in traditional Chinese medicine. They can nourish the lungs and use to relieve coughs, dry throats, and other respiratory conditions. Lily bulbs are also good for the heart due to their ability to ease heart palpitations, low fever, irritable bowel syndrome, diarrhea, and insomnia.

Dried Lily bulbs are used in Chinese cooking as a flavor enhancer, primarily in vegetarian dishes, but also in various stews and soups.

Chinese Red Dates are loaded with energy, essential vitamins and minerals, which provide its many health benefits. Namely AntiCancer Abilities, relief chronic constipation, rich in Vitamin C, gastrointestinal benefits by reducing the exposure of intestinal mucosa to toxic ammonia compounds.

It has been recommended to consume 40 milligram per day to maintain a good healthy lifestyle as they contain potassium which will keep our blood pressure at a healthy level. Red dates are supposed to have a calming effect so the blood vessels are relaxed, blood flow and pressure is much better.

Dried Longan are often used in Chinese sweet dessert soups. This is another calming fruit, but when dried instead of its usual white flesh, it is dark brown in colour as can be seen from the photo. They are normally vacuum packed and will expand when they are being boiled. They are sweet, fragrant and lovely flavour for cooking desserts soup. Some of the benefits are reducing anxiety, promote tranquility, improve sleep and insomnia, support spleen and blood, improve skin appearances and help to slow heartbeat.

As we are into our Winter cold months, many are suffering from flu and dry coughs, so if you can buy them in a Chinese supermarket or shop, boil this dessert to ease your coughs.
