Delicious "Bollos Pelones"
This dish is called bollos pelones and it is prepare in Maracaibo, a city situated in the eastern region of Venezuela, when I was a girl I saw boys walking around in midtown with a big pan full, with the intention of selling them, they sold them hot and they put some home made chilly sauce on top, I can still feel the smell of them.
You can prepared them with chicken or fish and use the sauce you like to cover them. If you fill them with chicken, fish or prawns you can use a home made tartar sauce.
Bollo pelones with meat
Ingredients:
- in this recipe I am using a home made tomatoe sauce made with red tomatoes, oregano, salt at taste, sugar to cut the acidity, I boil it for about 1 hour till it gets thick, I can say that this is a napolitan sauce.
- prepare 1/2 kilo of minced meat with chilly, chives, 1/2 onion, 1 red pepper 1 teaspoon of cumin powder, 5 cloves of garlic, 2 tablespoon of oil, cook and cool
- make a dough of corn flour smooth but not too wet, you have to be able to make the small balls to be filled
Preparation:
Having a look to the image in order:
place a pan with enough water and boil
make a small ball in your hand and smash it and fill it with 2 spoons of meat
close it and give shape
put every ball in the boiling water
you know they are ready when they go up, leave them there for about 5 more minutes and take them out carefully and inmediately add the sauce, eat hot
