Is Shabu Shabu Mongolian?
Wikepedia says Sabu Shabu is Japanese.
I was told that Shabu Shabu was Mongolian and originated from the 13th century when soldiers stewed together anything the could get. After boiling it they knew it was safe enough to heat. When I look at the boiling boil I'm pretty much convinced this was a Mongolian tradition. I like to feel like I was one of Khan's soldiers eating out of a sizzling helmet. But the name Sabu Shabu really does sound Japenese.
Great for colds
It's been three weeks since the beginning of the school year and both of my son's have a high fever. They don't want to eat anything but they always have room for Shabu Shabu. The sizzling broth and meat and vegetables makes a nutrious meal. Althous they are not in the Mongolian army they are in Korean schools and that is close. They need as much nutrition as they can get.
Persimmon House
They place we went to is call 감나무집 persimmon house but then a lot of restaurants in Korea have that name. We were at the one near Yonshinae subway station. The food and service is great but the place is usually crowded.
Stay happy and healthy,
Peace
