Peanut Butter and Jelly Chia Seeds Pudding & How to make Almond Milk

Hello Steemians!

Today's recipe is inspired by the famous Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich, but much healthier because instead of bread we'll have chia seeds and almond milk.

You can have this as breakfast, snack or dessert. It is healthy, vegan and full of nutrients. You have protein, healthy fats and fiber. Also chia seeds contain a considerable amount of Omega-3. 

History of Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches


Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches  PB&J has one or more layers of peanut butter, jelly or jam and bread.  It is super popular in North America. 

According to Wikipedia,  the history of Peanut Butter and Jelly begins way back when at that time peanut butter was paired with veggies as pimento, celery, watercrass, cheese or toasted crackers. In one article in May 1896,  recipe "urged homemakers to use a meat grinder to make peanut butter and spread the result on bread."   In the very next weeks, the culinary magazine " Table Talk " published  a "peanut butter sandwich recipe. 

In the early 1900s, this sandwich was adopted down the class structure as the price of peanut butter dropped. It became popular with children by the 1920s as manufacturers began adding sugar to the peanut butter. 

Since World War II, both peanut butter and jelly were found on US soldiers' military ration list.

Because people try to eat healthier, these days you can find some alternatives to these peanut butter sandwiches.

For example, instead of peanut butter you can use almond butter or nut butter. Instead of white bread, you can have whole bread. 

Also, on top you can add some extra fruits as bananas, raspberries, apple, pear etc.  There are lot of healthier combinations.

HOW TO MAKE ALMOND MILK 


I like Almond Milk! Bought or homemade, I just love it.  But I prefer the homemade version, because its healthier. And it takes only a few minutes to make it. You can storage this tasty plant-based milk in the fridge for 3 days and you're all covered.

The ingredients for the Almond Milk

  • 200 g almonds (soaked) aprox. 
  • 4 cups water
  • sweetener (optional)
  • vanilla bean (optional)

You will need a blender and a strainer. 

1. First thing you have to do is to soak the almonds overnight or at least 8 hours. Just put the almonds in water and rinse them, adding another fresh water in between these hours. 

2. When the almonds are well soaked, put them in the blender and add the water. Start blending them very well for a few minutes.

3.  Over a large bowl or pot or whatever, use a strainer and pour the mixture in it, until you can drain all the liquid. You can use the pulp to make almond flour or some cookies. 

Pretty much that was it. Easy to make and super healthy. Next, let's see how to make this beautiful Peanut Butter and Jelly Chia Seeds Pudding. Yummyy!!

Peanut Butter and Jelly Chia Seeds Pudding


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of almond milk
  • 2 Tbsp of chia seeds
  • Vanilla Bean (optional)
  • Sweetener (I used sooooo little maple syrup) but you can also have agave, honey or your favourite.
  • Peanut Butter
  • Strawberry Jelly (I used some homemade jelly that my grandma made it). 
  • Banana for topping (optional)

Instructions:

1. Using a jar, mix the almond milk with the chia seeds. Let the mixture for about half an hour or much, if you have time. Stir ocasionally.

2. Add the sweetener and the vanilla bean seeds.

3. Start to layer these three: peanut butter, chia seeds and jelly. Also you can have some banana slices on top.

nice post :) I would advise in the future to leave out so many "almost" the same photos, and give the text and photos consistency, first and the last one or two to be the final product photos, and rest just to follow the process/text.

Hey, if you like peanut butter and jelly, this is very similar at taste, but a different version, one much healthier. I don't know if you'd like it, but you can give it a try when you have the chance.
