Homemade Tortilla Chips

in #food5 years ago

If you are like us, it is hard to keep a bag of chips around for long at the house. Whether you need some in a pinch, or just don't the temptation sitting around in the cupboard, it is easy to make your own fresh, crispy tortilla chips if you already have tortillas. The only other things you need are a little salt and oil.

  • 1 dozen corn tortillas
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for baking
  • ½ to 1 teaspoon salt

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or foil to help with clean-up.
  3. Brush each tortilla lightly with oil on both sides.
  4. Stack tortillas and slice into 8 wedges (easiest if you only do 4 at a time).
  5. Arrange wedges evenly across pans - its fine if they overlap each other.
  6. Sprinkle salt over the pans.
  7. Bake until the chips are starting to curl up and turn golden brown at the edges. Be sure to swap the pans every 5 minutes, or the top pan will be done way before the bottom.

Tasty photo! I like it

Those look amazing and it actually sounds like they are fairly easy to make. I'll have to try this if I can find corn tortillas. They arent as common here in Canada as they are in southern parts of America. I have seen them though at a few grocery stores a while back. I'll keep my eye out for them

Grandma's brand are our favorites, but good luck finding them outside of the Southwest!

Nice to know. I'll try at home asap!
