Weight and Indian mothers

Indian mothers are different from their counterparts in other parts of the world. They just cannot see their child's weight increasing. No matter how obese their child is, they would make sure that he/she doesn't miss even a single meal or a glass of milk for the day. 'Mera baccha kitna patla ho Gaya hai' (my child has slimmed down so much) is the famous dialogue that I am pretty sure every child in this country has heard it at some point of time in their life.

Their is no term as infant obeisity or child obesity here in India. We here take fat as fit. If your child is not fat then be sure that he is not fit, and those nosy aunties will make sure that you'll feel guilty of not feeding your child enoigh with quality food. They will make you feel like you have been eating your child's lunch and dinner while making him/her starve.

Indian mothers have this habit of comparing their kids to others kids and I have memories of my mother comparing me to one of my friend Bhavana around 20 years ago saying 'look at how well she eats'. Now, the irony is Bhawana is presently 31 year old and continues to be slightly over weight and my mother who then admired her weight is now not liking her weight too much. She now advices me to watch what I eat as loosing weight would be difficult than gaining it. Hahahaha.

I hope mother's here get their facts right. Indians mother's should make sure that they feed their kids nutritional food that would add some extra energy to their already existing energy levels instead of feeding them butter and ghee which just makes them lazy bones.
