VIETNAMESE SHAKING BEEF
Ingredients
- 1kg beef steak, cut into cubes
- 12 cloves of minced garlic
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 4 tomatoes, sliced
- 3 tablespoons water
- 1 large red onion, sliced
- 2 bunches watercress
- 1 1/2 tablespoons fish sauce
- 2 tablespoon white vinegar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup soy sauce, divided
- 2 1/2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- ground black pepper
- 1 1/2 tables spoons granulated sugar
- white rice, cooked, for serving
The steps
- Combine beef, brown sugar, 3 tablespoons of soy sauce, garlic, black pepper, fish sauce and oyster sauce in a large bowl. Marinate for 30 minutes.
- Combine granulated sugar, remaining soy sauce, water and white vinegar in a small bowl to make a dressing.
- Place the red onion slices in the dressing and soak it.
- Arrange the watercress and tomato slices on a platter.
- Preheat a large skillet over high heat.
- Add vegetable oil.
- Add half of the marinated beef cubes and sear on all sides, shake the pan, until meat becomes medium rare. Do it with the remaining beef cubes.
- Place the beef on top of the platter.
- Top it with the dressed red onions.
- Serve with rice. Enjoy!
