VIETNAMESE SHAKING BEEF


Ingredients

  • 1kg beef steak, cut into cubes
  • 12 cloves of minced garlic
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 tomatoes, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1 large red onion, sliced
  • 2 bunches watercress
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 2 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce, divided
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • ground black pepper
  • 1 1/2 tables spoons granulated sugar
  • white rice, cooked, for serving

The steps

  1. Combine beef, brown sugar, 3 tablespoons of soy sauce, garlic, black pepper, fish sauce and oyster sauce in a large bowl. Marinate for 30 minutes.
  2. Combine granulated sugar, remaining soy sauce, water and white vinegar in a small bowl to make a dressing.
  3. Place the red onion slices in the dressing and soak it.
  4. Arrange the watercress and tomato slices on a platter.
  5. Preheat a large skillet over high heat.
  6. Add vegetable oil.
  7. Add half of the marinated beef cubes and sear on all sides, shake the pan, until meat becomes medium rare. Do it with the remaining beef cubes.
  8. Place the beef on top of the platter.
  9. Top it with the dressed red onions.
  10. Serve with rice. Enjoy!
