WARM MULLED WINE, GROG AND SBITEN

Mulled wine
Prepared on the basis of red wine, heated to a certain temperature, and with the addition of spices. Something similar was prepared in Ancient Rome, but preferred not to heat the drink. There are a large number of recipes for non-alcoholic mulled wine. Most often they are prepared on the basis of juices: cherry, grape, pomegranate.

Ingredients: 500 ml of cherry juice, 100 ml of water, ½ orange peel, ½ tsp ground ginger, ½ tsp cinnamon or one stick, ½ Apple, 1 star badyan, 5 nails, 1 lemon zest, 2 tablespoons raisins, 3-4 cardamom or ⅓ tsp ground cardamom.

Method of preparation: pour the juice into the pan, add water. Put on fire. Put all spices. Instead of dry ginger, you can take fresh. Remove the zest from the lemon and orange. Apple cut into slices, raisins thoroughly rinse. Put an Apple, raisins and zest in a saucepan with juice. Heat to almost boiling. Optionally, you can add honey. Let stand for 10-15 minutes. Strain before serving.

Grog

Traditionally prepared with rum and water. Grog appeared thanks to the English sailors, and named it in honor of the British Vice Admiral Edward Vernon. He walked around the deck in bad weather in an old waterproof Cape (in English — grogram cloak), which was nicknamed the Old Grok. The sailors were given about 280 ml of rum daily as a prophylactic against scurvy. However, this amount of alcohol had a negative impact on discipline. So Vice Admiral Vernon introduced a rule of rum to dilute with water (hot or cold), and add lemon juice.
Ingredients: 1 liter of strong black tea, 120 ml of cherry juice, 3 cloves, 1 cinnamon stick, 1 star ante, 2 peas of allspice, ½ lemon, honey to taste.

Method of preparation: combine tea and juice, put on fire and bring to a boil. Lemon cut into circles, put in grog, add spices. Cover the drink with a lid and allow to writing a rolling boil for about 5 minutes on low heat. Tribute to infuse for 10-15 minutes. Strain before serving.

Sbiten

Traditional Russian drink, which appeared before tea, which was prepared from water, herbs and honey. The name presumably comes from the word "shoot down", that is, mix the ingredients.
Ingredients: 1 liter of water, 250 g of honey, ½ tsp dried herbs (mint, sage, St. John's wort), 1 PA-lochka cinnamon, 1 clove, 2-3 cardamom seeds, a pinch of nutmeg, ⅓ tsp ground ginger.
Method of preparation: if there are no dried herbs, you can take one mint, fresh and suitable. Honey can be take less or more. In warm water, dissolve the honey, bring to a boil. Put herbs and spices and boil for about 15 minutes, periodically removing the foam. Remove from heat. Let stand for 20-30 minutes. Strain before serving.
