Food trip at CHOCOLATE DE BATIROL • Baguio City

Today I will share you my food trip at Baguio City, Philippines.
One of the exciting part when traveling was looking for a place to eat, not just a place to eat but something that has a remarkable taste or should I say the pride of the town or city.
And now a days, it’s only one tap on your palm by searching it on your phone through google or from your favorite food app.
We found one at Igorot Park, Camp John Hay, the “CHOCO-LATE DE BATIROL, Atchaka meron pa” Cafe.
The place was located inside Camp John Hay a popular tourist destination for the lovely tall pine trees, great hotel accommodation and recreational activities.
The Cafe was not hard to find, we just told the taxi driver to take us in that place. According to our research, the Cafe/Restaurant is one of the top 10 here in the Philippines.
It was a garden resto in the rainforest area of the city. The set up was like ”bahay kubo”, the tables and nipa huts are scattered in the garden.
You can feel the vibes of the local culture and tradition that they want to promote.
So what does “Choco-late de Batirol” means and “Atchaka meron pa.”
Choco-late was obviously the chocolate itself.
De Batirol is the traditional process or way of preparing the hot chocolate drink by using a wooden tool by holding it between the palm and rub together to mix the chocolate. (The mixer is similar to honey dipper).
Atchaka meron pa is a Tagalog word or the native language of the Philippines which mean, A lot more. 😄
Basically, the name of this eatery means... Traditional Hot chocolate drinks and a lot more.
So, lets take a look on their menu:
The traditional hot chocolate drink comes with different flavors on the menu, we got the Tradional Blend and Kahlua.
And here are the “atchaka meron pa” 😄😄:
We tried the Pansit Palabok, a Filipino rice noodles with special sauce.
Also the Suman sa Lihiya, a rice cake made from glutinous rice or locally called “malagkit”. Topped with grated cococut and muscovado sugar.
Another native rice cake is the Bibingka, it is very popular in Christmas season here in the Philippines.
Since, it’s cold in Baguio we ordered Sinigang na Baboy, it’s a sour soup from tamarind broth with pork meat and veggies.
The food compliments each other, they are the best combinations. The tastes are so deliciously homey. The price was worthy for all of these amounting more or less 1,000.00 Php or 20 Usd.
