Teabags are the most convenient way to brew tea in the fast-paced lives of ours. But sadly, not everyone knows how to use them to brew a perfect cup of tea. While this should be a common knowledge, it's sadly not. So today this post is about how to brew the perfect cup of black tea using teabags and later in this same post I'll tell you guys about the best way to brew green tea.

Black tea is best brewed by placing a teabag in a drinking cup, adding hot but not boiling water to it and setting the tea aside to brew for exactly 4 minutes, nothing less and nothing more. Thereafter, as per taste, one can add a little condensed milk to it or add sweetened hot milk to it. The thing is, black tea contains a lot of tanin and these tanins render the tea bitter and cloak the fruity aroma of the tea if allowed to seep into the brewed liquid. Which is why a brewing time limit of just 4 minutes is used which allows for all the flavours and nutrients of the tea to dissolve into the brew but prevents tanins and other unwanted bitter flavours to seep into the tea.

Green tea is best brewed by adding moderately hot water to a teabag placed in a teacup and allowing it to seep for exactly 2 minutes, not less nor more. Green tea starts tasting bitter if allowed to brew any more than 2 minutes because it's unoxidized and so the tanins have a lower dissolution threshold as compared to black tea and they therefore dissolve early into the brew rendering it bitter and dry.
