Foodtography

When it comes to foodtography, I never really understood how people take such beautiful pictures of food. Do they really hover over their dishes with a big DSLR whilst shining studio lights from the side to get the perfect lighting? Do they lay out dishes in a certain way to maintain symmetry? What about decorations? Plating?

When it comes to food, it's obvious that there are so many aspects to presentation. It goes way beyond the taste and thinking about it, that makes a lot of sense. As human beings, we rely on visual cues for sparking curiosity.
