We don't know how good food tastes from looking at it but we can associate taste with some sort of visual representation of what we think might taste good.

This is something foodtographers and indeed restaurants know very well. Heck, even McDonalds know this very well. Surely you've come across the menu at these fast food joints and allowed yourself to think how amazing they must taste based on the way they look? It turns out that they don't taste anywhere near as good as they look but the pictures did enough to get you to order right? You're starting to understand.
