Besides an abundance of livestock being maintained, vegetables play a huge role in the Tibetan diet. Their range of various vegetables provides a sweetness and balance to the earthy meats that are often used in dishes. All of the produce is locally farmed, there are no ready made stocks or powders. To some extent, the Tibetan cooking style emphasises strong living and wellness. The combination of spices and vegetables are crafted to promote strength and growth.

They can sometimes serve as medicinal forms of food too with various anti-bacterial functions. Aside from the food, the drinks served with meals also vary from day to day. I was surprised to find a selection of spirits including Tibetan Vodka, Beers and other ales. After every meal I found myself puzzled over flavours and would often ask for some recipes!
