Ulog #43: Maggi Goreng

'Maggi Goreng' basically is instant ramen that's fried. It has garlic, chili, onions finely diced that is fried up along with some greens, eggs and tofu cubes. Different shops have different variations to this dish but it's pretty similar since the instant ramen is basically generic.

The difference varies however base on the skill of the person cooking it. Some places can be too salty, some places can be too bland. Some places overcook the noodles leaving them dry and hard to eat.

This one I had is from my favorite place and they cook it almost always brilliantly. 99.9% perfection most of the time.

It has the perfect balance of flavors from the sweetness of the onions to the aromatic of the garlic right down to the texture of the noodles, just perfectly done.

They're also generous with the fried tofu cubes which makes it all the more delicious eventhough it doesn't have any meat in it.

You can also order a protein to go with it like fried chicken or mutton curry and they'll fry it up together with the ramen. This though does change the flavor of the dish entirely so if you wanna get an authentic taste of this, you're gonna have to get most basic of all.
