UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUARTER FINAL DRAWS

in #football5 years ago

Few minutes ago, the quarter final fixtures of the UEFA champions league was revealed. Four English teams, and four other teams from Spain, Italy, Portugal and Netherland will be battling for the trophy this season. We had expected two English teams to meet, and thus we weren't disappointed. Let's look at all the fixtures.

Road to final

Ajax vs Juventus

Juventus are the one favorite to win the champions league. Many believed the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo will inspire them to winning it. And their last match against Atletico Madrid confirmed that. Ajax is also a good side, so they shouldn't be neglected. Their remarkable comeback against Real Madrid, the defending champions was a match to watch again. Now, the question is; would they bring on this form to defeat Juventus? The last time both teams met was in the UEFA European league in 2010. Juventus knocked them out of the tournament after a 2-1 win in Johan Cruijff Arena. They played 0-0 in the first leg.

Ajax might qualify, but Juventus has the advantage here.

Liverpool vs Porto

Porto has lost only one match in this tournament, and they will be playing against a team that lost three. Is that a clue to them being the favorites? Well, experience tells here. Liverpool were in the finals last season, and they lost to Real Madrid. They would be looking forward to winning this one since the team that stopped them last season isn't there anymore. Porto on the other hand hasn't crossed this stage in a very long time, so we shouldn't expect them not to give the reds a really tough time. The last time they met was a disaster for Porto. They couldn't get a goal against Liverpool, instead they got 5 goals from them.

Perhaps, they've learnt well and would be coming back strong. We will definitely find out.

Tottenham vs Manchester City

These teams have met severally, and we know who the better team is. But we can't rule out the fact that they know each other's weaknesses and strengths. Some people were confident of Manchester City overcoming Liverpool last season, but it turned out they were wrong. If Guardiola is hoping on winning the trophy, then he shouldn't see Tottenham as an easy fixture. Man City got a win the last time they met, and they still have one more game to play in EPL; making a total of three games.

Tottenham shocked the world against Dortmund. Would they do the same against one of their rivals, Manchester City?

Manchester United vs Barcelona

This is definitely the most anticipated match. Both teams have huge fans, so the turn up would be great. Man United got a great form since they brought in their new coach and they even made a remarkable comeback against PSG. That shows they can overcome another stronger team too. Barcelona, on the other hand hasn't crossed the quarter final stages in three years. Let's hope they cross it this time by defeating the red devils.

Messi is definitely the player to watch out for. The Argentine scored against them in two different occasions. Some players that played the matches are still present in Barcelona, while Manchester United has a fresh team to play them. Let's hope experience doesn't tell here.

So who are you placing your money on? The English sides or the other teams? We will find out soon enough.

Only two people participated in my contest yesterday, but they didn't predict right. I'll be giving both users a 100% share as compensation.
