English clubs complete full house of European Finals
What a week of European football. After the thrilling comebacks of Liverpool and Arsenal against Ajax and Barcelona respectively to seal their Champions League Final berth. Chelsea and Arsenal booked their places in the Europe League Final will more conventional wins last night.
Arsenal put on a vintage away performance blowing away Valencia in Spain 4-2, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring a hat-trick. Chelsea were taken to the wire by Eintracht Frankfurt, eventually overcoming their Germany opponents 4-3 on penalties.
Full house
It is crazy to think there are four English teams in the two major European Finals and none of the teams are the Premier League leaders and favourites to clinch the Title on Sunday, Manchester City.
This could mark a period of English Clubs dominating Europe in the coming years.
New levels
Manchester City set a new bar in the EPL last season amassing 100 points.
Liverpool rose to the challenge this season pushing Pep's team into the last game of the season. Both teams have clocked up an incredible 90+ points.
Liverpool's League form has carried over to the Champions League taking them to the Final.
With London clubs Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea also Cup finalists, it shows that although these clubs are off the pace domestically they are more than a match for their European counterparts.
Encore
We thought the Premier League season was ending on Sunday. However this season has been so good it is only fitting that we're going to have two encores!
I, for one, cannot wait! Bring it on.
As a Liverpool fanatic I was expecting a post like this from you soon...and Bang here it is. English teams are back, there, among the best and it is the natural outcome of the development that has been made all over English football over the last years.
PS. I really DO hope Brighton players play the game of their lives on Sunday...since even though we were 7 points ahead...managed to lose the advantage.
