James joined Bayern on a two-year loan deal from Real Madrid in 2017 and has enjoyed being in and out of the team.

In a productive and impressive first season, he scored seven goals and assisted eleven in 25 league games.

The current season has so far not been so rosy for the Colombia star under Niko Kovac having played 15 league games with three goals and assists each.

The Bavarians have not had a dominating campaign in the league this season as usual, having to rally back from behind to now stay top of the league, level on points With Borussia Dortmund.

The result of this unusual season in the last few years has suggested reports of an overhaul in the summer which called into question, James's future.

Rummenigge has however voiced his support for the Colombian who shone and won hearts at the 2014 World Cup in Germany to facilitate a move to Real Madrid.

Since the turn of the year, he has returned to the first team, registering his three assist so far during this period.

Bayern would next face Liverpool in the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie after playing a barren draw in the first leg at Anfield.
