Serie A side, Chievo Verona have been hit with three points deduction and a fine of €200,000 by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) for presenting false accounts.

This charge was levelled against the club's chairman, Luca Campedelli and several of their directors for inflating their accounts in relations to some transfer dealings with fellow Italian side, Cesena.

The points deduction mean Chievo will be on -2 points, having picked up just one point in their first three games on the league this season.

Although, the FIGC Prosecutor requested that the court ban Campedelli for three years and hit Chievo with 15 points deduction, the court has only banned him for three months.

Chievo finished last season in 13th position and were just five points above the relegation zone.

They currently sit three points behind their closest rivals, Fronisone, Bologna and Parma, meaning they have little margin for errors this season to continue in the top flight.
