Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has fired a very straight warning prior to the commencement of the new season that fans and lovers of the club should not expect any miracle to happen.

United have done only little business in the just closed transfer window with the arrival of Fred from Shaktar Donetsk and Diogo Dalot from FC Porto. The signing may not seem a welcomed one for most fan, goalkeeper Lee Grant from Stoke City.

Mourinho lamented that although Alexis Sanchez may be fit as he has already played a number of minutes during pre-season other players, especially those who are just resuming from their long World Cup break are not expected to be fit enough for the new season.

More worryingly is that new signing, Diogo Dalot may not be available for the start of the new season as he recovers from an injury.

It has been a frustrating summer for United who were linked with Toby Alderweireld of Tottenham and Harry Maguire of Leicester City.

Reports formerly claimed that a deal had been agreed for the former which later turned false, Leicester were unwilling to allow Maguire leave in the same window as the departure of Riyad Mahrez who was instrumental in their title winning campaign in 2016.

The foxes also had good news with Jamie Vardy signing a new deal that ties him with the former champions until the 2022/2023 season.

The Reds were also reported to have had a last minute bid on deadline day for Atletico Madrid defender, Godin turned down by the Spanish club.
