FIFA Deny Chelsea Appeal, Blues Head For CAS
FIFA has upheld the ban it placed on Chelsea in February, following the violation of the FIFA rule regarding the signing of players under the age of 18.
The rule states that, no club should must sign a player under 18 years from a different country except the parents of such players are moving for non-football reasons.
Players between the ages of 16 and 18 years can however be signed, if they're moving with the European Union zone.
Chelsea who have lost the appeal at the FIFA Appeal court are now set to take their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sports in Lousanne.
In a statement released by the club on Wednesday, the Blues maintained their innocence on the case and have vowed to reopen another appeal at CAS.
As it stands, Chelsea can sign players, only that, such players cannot be registered by the club until the summer of 2022.
January signing, Christian Pulisic would definitely not be affected, as he was signed in January and loaned back to Borussia Dortmund before the ban.
This now makes it impossible for the potential permanent deals for Matteo Kovacic and Gonzalo Higuain, a tough call.
