Madrid Return To Winning Ways
Real Madrid have overcome their last league loss to Eibar by coming out strong in an encounter with Valencia, winning 2-0.
An own goal by Daniel Wass early in the first half set the pace for what was looking like a Madrid dominating game.
It was however not to be as the Los Blancos failed to produce the same stellar performances that saw them revered under Zinedine Zidane.
Youngster, Sergio Reguilòn was giving the nod to start at left back in the absence of Marcelo and the Spaniard impressed with his performance.
Marcos Llorente also earned a spot in the heart of the midfield in the absence of both Casemiro and Toni Kroos.
Chances were had to come by for both teams even though Real Madrid dominated proceedings.
The European champions had to wait till the dying minutes for a Lucas Vazquez tap in from close range after being set up by Benzema to finally seal the game.
Thibaut Courtois had put in two excellent saves to deny Santi Mina and Michy Basthuayi in between the two Madrid goals.
Having already qualified for the knockout stage of the Champions League, the win was a needed booster returning to the local scene after a horrible start to this campaign which has seen Julen Lopetegui getting the axe.
