Ramos Sets Individual Record With Spain

Spain national team captain, Sergio Ramos set a new international record in their 4-1 victory over the Faroe Islands in Friday's European Championship qualifying clash.

The World Cup winner started the game tied with former Spain and Real Madrid teammate, Iker Casillas in international wins, with 121 each, since making his debut back in 2005.

Following the victory over Faroe Island on Friday, Ramos reached a new landmark in the history of international football with 122 victory in 164 outings.

The Madrid captain himself set Spain on the path to victory on the night, scoring the first goal withing the first five minutes of the encounter.

Jesus Navas increased the visitors' advantage to two goals shortly after, although the Faroes did pull one back on the half hour mark.

The potential of a comeback was shortlived after Teitur Gestsson put the ball past his own goalkeeper to restore Spain's two-goal advantage before Jose Gaya completed the scoring with the fourth goal of the evening.

Friday's victory was Spain's fourth consecutive international victory, having previously defeated Bosnia & Herzegovina, Norway and Malta in successive outings.
