Roma Appoint Ranieri On Interim Contract
AS Roma have announced the appointment of Claudio Ranieri as the coach of the team on the interim, following the sack of former boss, Eusebio Di Francesco.
Ranieri who was recently sacked by Fulham has signed a contract to steer the ship until the summer.
Making the announcement club president, Jim Pallota said the team was glad to welcome back Ranieri.
The former Leicester City gaffer who is a boyhood fan of Roma, returns to the club eight years after resigning from the post he held between 2009 and 2011 guiding Roma to a second placed finish in his only full season.
Barely eight days ago was Ranieri himself sacked by Fulham after winning just three games in seventeen league outings since replacing Slavisa Jokanovic in November.
He replaces Di Francesco who was fired few hours ago following a streak of poor performances which included recently, a 7-1 loss to Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia, a 3-0 loss to Lazio in the Rome Derby in their last league outing and the straw that broke the camel's back, the ouster to FC Porto in the Champions League round of 16.
Ranieri will take charge of his new team for the first time on Monday when the Giallorossi host Empoli at the Staido Olimpico.
