Southampton striker, Charlie Austin has been banned by the Football Association for two matches after admitting to making an improper conduct in Saints' home loss to Manchester City in December.

Austin was substituted in the 68th minute and was booed off. In response, he made a two-fingered gesture to the travelling fans.

The FA charged Austin with improper conduct and as such handed him a two-game ban which means he will miss the game against Leicester City at the weekend.

He will also not be available for selection for coach Ralph Hassenhuttl when Southampton take on Derby County for the replay of their FA Cup 3rd Round tie on January 16.

In 2016, the 29-year old also faced disciplinary actions, bagging a three-game ban for violent conduct following a bust-up with Huddersfield goalkeeper, Jonas Lossl.

The former Burnley striker has not been his most prolific self this season as he has only managed to find the back of the net on two occasions, one of which was the winner against Arsenal in December.

Austin joined Southampton in 2016 from Queens Park Rangers in a delayed with around £4million.
