Football everywhere - so much to watch!
I cannot really believe it, but these days there is so much football to watch that I do not really know what to watch. It is very seldom I experience things like this, but right now it is true.
So, what is going on in the world that makes me feel like I almost get an overdose of football?
1. The Nations League
Well, yesterday evening it was the second semi-final of the Nations League and yet again it was a match to remember. The first semi-final between Portugal and Switzerland will be remembered for the VAR penalty situation in which both teams could have ended up getting a penalty, and also for the three Ronaldo goals, while yesterday's semi-final between the Netherlands and England will be remembered for the terrible defensive play of England causing 2 out of 3 Dutch goals.
This Sunday, it is time for the bronze match and the final in the Nations League, meaning that it will be a fantastic Sunday just looking forward to these matches.
The Euro 2020 qualifiers
Starting today, we have six days ahead of us with lots of Euro 2020 qualifier matches in Europe. This is always interesting as most of the European nations will be active playing matches. I will cheer for my own nation, and I guess the rest of Europe will cheer for their nations. As a result, there will be Euro 2020 matches being played simultaneously with the Nations Leauge final on Sunday. Now, which match will I choose then? That is a hard question!
But, that isn't all... there is more going on in the football world.
The FIFA World Cup 2019 starts today
The female FIFA World Cup starts today and will last for 30 days. Maybe you don't care much about female football, but I am becoming a bigger and bigger fan. You can see that the tempo is a bit slower, but the action and the excitement is just as big. And to be honest, it is much better to watch female football because these are real men with muscles, playing hard, and fighting till the end. They are not actors like Neymar and Ronaldo falling to the ground for nothing and then crying to the referee for help whenever a fly touches their leg. Take a look at a couple of matches during the tournament and you will understand.
The FIFA World Cup will start tonight with a match between France and South Korea and will continue with fantastic group stage matches, all ending with the final in Lyon on July 7th. Do you get my problem?
There is simply too much football to watch, and on Sunday during the Nations League final between the Netherlands and Portugal, there will also be Euro 2020 qualifying matches and FIFA World Cup 2019 matches going on. But, let me be very honest with you... I am not complaining!!! I am looking forward to some amazing days and weeks with amazing football coming up. And let us not forget that the AFCON 2019 and the Copa America 2019 will start soon as well!
