Anfield akan menggelar laga pembuka Liga Champion Eropa musim 2018/2019 dengan menjamu Juara Ligue 1 Paris Saint Germain (PSG). Kedua tim tergabung di Grup C bersama dengan Napoli dan Crvena Zvezda (Red Star). Banyak hal menarik yang akan terjadi di laga ini.
Pertandingan ini diperkirakan akan berlangsung sengit, mengingat kedua tim masih sempurna di 5 laga awal kompetisi domestik. Sama-sama mengoleksi 15 poin, PSG tengah sendirian memuncaki klasemen Ligue 1 Perancis, sementara The Reds di posisi kedua dibawah Chelsea yang unggul selisih gol.
Selain itu, duel trio lini depan kedua tim merupakan sorotan paling besar di laga ini. PSG yang memiliki trio lini terdepan termahal pada Neymar - Edinson Cavani - Kylian Mbappe akan beradu tajam dengan Mohamed Salah - Sadio Mane - Roberto Firmino, yang berhasil membawa Liverpool ke Final UCL musim lalu. Saking seriusnya persiapan untuk laga ini, Thomas Tuchel bahkan mencadangkan Neymar dan Mbappe di Liga Perancis saat PSG menghajar Saint Etienne 4-0, sementara Firmino 'sedikit' cedera akibat tercoblos mata oleh Vertonghen saat mengalahkan Spurs 2-1 akhir pekan lalu.
Selain duel pemain di lapangan, duel kedua manager juga menarik. Juergen Klopp dan Thomas Tuchel memiliki kesamaan 'benang merah', yaitu Dortmund. Tuchel merupakan pengganti pelatih Dortmund saat Klopp memutuskan menjadi manager Liverpool. Kunjungan terakhir Tuchel dengan Dortmund malah menyisakan kenangan yang manis untuk publik Anfield.
Sekedar flashback, lebih dua tahun lalu di semifinal Leg 2 Liga Europa, Tuchel datang ke Anfield dengan bekal seri 1-1. Unggul cepat lewat Mkhitaryan dan Aubameyang cuma bisa dibalas Origi di babak pertama, Reus sempat membungkam Anfield sebelum Coutinho dan Sakho menyamakan kedudukan. Anfield bergemuruh saat Lovren mencetak gol di Injury Time!.
Kini, seluruh pemain yang mencetak gol saat itu tidak akan turun di laga ini (Origi kecil kemungkinan tampil dan Lovren masih cedera), Tuchel kali ini tentu tidak ingin kembali kalah. Ia kali ini datang dengan Paris Saint Germain!
