Personally i think Toto Wolff is just having some fun at the expense of the other teams before the Hungarian Grand Prix and wont change his driver setup for next season. Why would you when you are dominating.
Toto Wolff was discussing the idea of who would be partnering Lewis Hamilton next year as his other driver. Valtteri Bottas contract is coming to an end at the end of this season and is trailing Hamilton by 39 points in the Championship.Before we get to what they could decide lets look at the points tables.

They are one and two which is what any team would want. In the constructors table Mercedes have a dominant lead.

Toto Wolff mentioned two drivers plus Bottas as well re signing a new contract. Verstappen was one which I think is a very bad choice as all we have to do is think back to how many teams self destruct. Prost and Senna dominated and ended in a bitter relationship and hatred for each other. Rosberg and Hamilton wasn't great either as when there is fierce rivalry it wrecks the team.
The other driver is Esteban Occon who I rate very highly. He is the Mercedes third driver currently and I am glad he is working after losing his seat to Perez at Force India. He doesn't have financial backers, but is a great driver and deserves his place in a team somewhere.
Bottas has done nothing wrong and seems to get along with the team. The quietly spoken Finn has done remarkably well for Mercedes so why not extend the contract for another year. If he wants to leave then sign Occon as the number two and it is a perfect mix.
There aren't many drivers out there right now that are better than Bottas or Occon and they don't need to look further than who they have already. Verstappen I feel would be the wrong mix with Hamilton as he wants to be number one. You can't have two drivers fighting for the championship as it will end in tears.
I would like to see a f1 more competitive because each year mercedez winnig is not so fun i know this days the winner will be the pilot with the best car but f1 have to do something to equalize all. Regards
Mercedes is way ahead of the others currently. The wheel turns and another team will take the top spot. It is more about the car than the driver these days as if you put Hamilton in another car he wont be so dominant. look at Damon Hill when he was with Williams he looked good and when he moved he looked terrible.
What is it that makes them really good drivers? I haven't watched a Grand Prix race since I was a little kid so I am not that familiar with any of the people or places. I guess for that matter I only ever watched the Indy 500, so that probably doesn't even count!
Not all of them are and the car makes them look good. There are a handful that are talented and the others have all bought their seats and it shows. Hamilton, Verstappen,Vettel,Riccardo and a few new faces are appearing. Perez is a shocker and shouldn't be anywhere near a race car. He has limited skills and the wrong temperament and is a danger.
Great post - Hamilton won again. I do certaiinly disagree with this opinion;
Two top drivers will max out the performance of car and team - this is real competition if two equal great guys have the similar basic equipment.
I know it doesn't make sense , but for the sake of the team you can't have two brilliant drivers. The wheels come off and it tears the team apart from too much rivalry. Many teams have suffered from this in the past and it effects the teams performances in the end. Senna and Prost was a prime example. They won 15 out of 16 races in the season and dominated yet they were fighting each other. Prost left and the team fell apart.
