Sounds fishy to me. First of all, how do they make their money if it's commission free?
Secondly why would you give away so much btc for a business model whereby you were making no money?
If just a measly 1000 people take up their 100 referrals that's $2,500,000.
Either you're leaving a crucial bit of information out or this is a scam and they'll eventually run off with your money way before that 90 day period is over.

I suppose it is possible it is a scam, but I only gave them my name, email, and State. That information has little value. It is always a good idea to make your own judgements on these things. I am not leaving out anything I know of, but all I know is what I found on the website. It would be a good idea to be careful during the sign-up process, to make sure everything is legit.
Yeah, my guess is that the reason they put a 90 day caveat on you claiming your btc. Is because they plan on running of with everyone's money ala Mt Gox.
But hey, I'm a paranoid person, maybe there is a legit reason they want to give away free bitcoin. I can't think of it, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
I guess claim the coin and don't use the exchange would be my advice. Then nothing has been lost.
