GROUNDHOG DAY (5-minute Freewrite)

If you'll permit me, I am going to challenge myself to stay in the same story for all the 5-minute Freewrite Prompts for the month of February! Let's see how this turns out...

"Mom, Aunt Meredith, come quick," Felix said. His frail chest heaved. His forehead shined with a thin layer of sweat. The wrinkled flyer collided against the kitchen table with a slap that stung Felix's hand.

"What son?" His mother's hair was a rat's nest of tangles and dandruff. Why had she stopped caring? Why couldn't she just pull it together? Dad had moved on. Why couldn't his Mom? "You're going to wake Alexis if you keep thudding through here like a herd of elephants."

It was Groundhog Day all over again. Or perhaps the saying was something like 'it was deja vu all over again.' Felix was never good at English. Either way the same argument was about to stir up.
