But spitting didn't take away the bitter taste that began to flood my mouth. I felt that all the skin of my face and body turned bile color, but, when passing near a shopwindow, after having left that place, shaky, unable to give credit to the perfect camouflage of Mr. Y. in everyday life neighbor, I was just a little pale.

The rest of the day was ill. I had a terrible mood. I thought that I wouldn't be able to sleep or that, if I did, I would have horrible nightmares. But no, I took a 12-hour dream and woke up calmly, though disoriented, dazed.

Almost a minute later I relived the disastrous encounter and, also, what happened before.

My twins and dozens of other babies wormed; the gynecologists and pediatricians silenced; some of those doctors imprisoned and tortured, as well as one or two nurses from the Neonatal Service. The Director of the Hospital Center, "awarded" with a diplomatic position in Australia, with his entire family. Ours submitted to a quarantine whose only purpose was to make us believe that it was an eruptive disease that we could all be infected with, keep us confined and prevent us from mobilizing to clarify the facts.

That morning I spent vomiting, I could not help it!

Pero escupir no me quitó el amargo sabor que comenzaba a inundar mi boca. Sentí que toda la piel de mi rostro y mi cuerpo se puso color bilis, pero, al pasar cerca de una vidriera, luego de haber salido de aquel local, tambaleante, sin poder dar crédito al perfecto camuflaje del Sr. Y. en la cotidianidad vecinal, me vi tan solo un poco pálida.

El resto del día lo pasé muy mal, con el ánimo descompuesto. Creí que no lograría dormir o que, en caso de hacerlo, tendría horrorosas pesadillas. Pero no, me largué un sueño de 12 horas y desperté en calma, aunque desorientada, aturdida.

Casi un minuto después reviví el funesto encuentro y, también, lo que antes ocurrió.

Mis gemelos agusanados, los ginecobstetras y pediatras silenciados, algunos de esos galenos presos y torturados, al igual que una o dos enfermeras del Servicio Neonatal. El Director del Centro Hospitalario, “premiado” con un cargo diplomático en Australia, con toda su familia. Las nuestras, sometidas a una cuarentena cuyo único fin fue, haciéndonos creer que se trataba de una enfermedad eruptiva de la que todos podíamos estar contagiados, mantenernos confinados y evitar que nos movilizáramos para esclarecer los hechos.

Esa mañana la pasé vomitando, ¡no pude evitarlo!
