We-Write...I Write...You Write?!

in #freewrite6 years ago (edited)

It’s that time again!

Brought to you by: @freedomtowrite

We’re holding another We-Write contest to win SBI, but this week will be a little different!
Instead of you finding a partner and then creating a completed story together, I will have the first part done, and it’s up to you to finish it!

Below you will find the story that I have written in 5 minutes. Then in the comment section or in your own post, it will be your turn to finish what I started!

Directions

This contest is pretty simple. If you choose to write your own post, all you need to do is copy and paste my portion of the story with your story! But how do you show which part is mine and which is yours?

That’s easy! All you need is the > at the beginning each paragraph of my story. For example:

>One day a long time ago, the Yeti was sitting with his fancy bride under a mighty oak tree when a sing-song bird come over delivering a message.

>“My dear sweet neighbors,” sang the sing-song bird. “I have come bearing urgent news from the distant mountains. The leader of the mountains is on his way now to conquer these lands and burn all the trees down to stubs!”

>“We cannot let this happen!” the Yeti said in his ruggedly handsome voice. He then pulled his sword out and charged up the mountain to defend the lower lands.

Now that will look like this!

“We cannot let this happen!” the Yeti said his ruggedly handsome voice. He then pulled his sword out and charged up the mountain to defend the lower lands.

Is anything else different?

Prompt: Basics

Now for my story….give me 5ish minutes and I will have it ready…

The Start of the Story

By: @freedomtowrite

“So, just give me the basics,” she barked at him.

“I…uh…I…”

“Man up soldier!” she yelled at his face. A little spittle flew between her yellowed teeth along with a piece of broccoli, both landing firmly on his glasses.

His fevered brain couldn’t make heads or tails of what he’d just seen, and he certainly couldn’t wrap his head around why she called him soldier. They were both tourists visiting the Eiffel Tower on the same day. He had never met this gigantic woman before in his life. He regretted being the only English speaking person here.

He swiped his glasses off with the cuff of his sleeve, leaving streaks behind.

“Well, what do you think it was? What was that big boom just now!?”

“It looked--” he began not wanting to believe his own eyes. But as he tried to finish his sentence, a large shadow covered the clear blue sky. They both turned to look towards the heavens. His knees trembled as his worst fears were coming to life.

There it is! I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with! Set that timer and let it flow!

Was it the streaks of slim on his glasses? He hoped with all his heart it was. But he knew, with a sinking feeling, that it wasn’t. The misshapen shadow passed. Then there was an earsplitting screech, then deafening ripping of metal overhead.

He took a step backward only to trip on the coffee mug he had dropped at the large boom. The lady glared down at him and with surprising strength, pulled him of the ground.

“Come on, Justin!” she pointed upward toward the sky.

There, resting on the Eiffel tower, was an awesome, razor-toed, quarter-mile winged, fire breathing dragon.

Ohhhh I really liked the visuals that this brought! I wonder if they'll survive!

And here we go again - this time, a little different.
We know that you love the We-Write 😀 The new challenge is up. Remember, besides the prices, each entry gets a 100 % upvote form the Freewrite House. Hope that you will join the contest.

A huge baby Donald Trump balloon filled the sky, as it was too close to the Eiffel Tower. The London protesters brought it after his visit with the Queen of England and they also brought a huge t-shirt cannon, that would disperse 50 anti-Trump t-shirts after every boom. Why they felt to need to protest in France, over Trump's visit to London, made no sense to these two Eiffel Tower visitors. All they could agree upon was that there was no way Russia was going to let these protesters inside their boarders.
Soon the French police arrived and grounded the balloon, and dispersed the protesters. They did not like the idea of something so huge, flying near their Eiffel Tower, so all the t-shirts were confiscated and sent to Uganda for the children to wear. Thank you Queen for having tea with Trump. You get a shirt, you get a shirt, you all get a shirt!!!

You cracked me up!!!! Love it.

Haha and they sent t-shirts to Uganda...

—¡Ahhhh!

Google translate:
-Ahhhh! My God, it was a dreadful dream, "shouted the man, waking up very startled.
I had dreamed horrible things before, but this one surpassed them all and by far. I did not understand why that recurrent dream, that obsession with those yellow teeth and that military voice of command so odious. The broccoli spit was something new. His body shuddered from just remembering him.
But that shadow that suddenly covered them was the most intriguing of all. It is supposed that standing in that tower was something romantic, idyllic, but did you want to have such an encounter with that woman? Maybe that's why the mysterious shadow that appeared in the sky interrupted his dream. A reaction of defense of his mind before such anguish.
He sat on the side of his bed and reaching for his glasses he checked to see if the stain was there.
Suddenly a voice shocked him and made him think that he was still inside that nightmare. That the most basic fear of someone was being fulfilled in him. From the outskirts of his room he heard that hateful cry:

  • Come on, soldier man! We do not have all day.
He felt that the air was missing and his heart beat faster, ran to lean out the window and just looked at that mysterious shadow in the sky, which covered everything in its path. He fainted on the spot, and his glasses broke when he fell

I loved this! I like how it was a dream after all but then it turned into reality. Thanks for writing!

A large disk, the size that could pass for a UFO circle the sky, covering two third of the sunligth, a doomday theorist day i would say, but aint nothing close.

We could see as everyone runs for shelter, i stood with him there curious, he's a soldier, if i want to survive this i gotta be on the right side.
Looking back to pleade for forgiveness, he was no where to be found, how he disappeared without a trace i dont know.

So many thoughts ran through my head, jump, scream for help, or just stay there and pray that this cup pass me bye.

Looking down the piles of crane metals to see the prince charming soldier directing lots of people to safety. I should have behave nice. Now am stucked here.
Then came the announcement from the ship.

10 @botefarm

Oh!! You are letting us hang too!! What are they going to say????? 😄

But what was the announcement?! Did the aliens want to be friends??

Here is my entry:
Won't repost all of yours because you know it ;)

Think, think, his mind went into warp speed as brains often do in the face of sudden catastrophe. And all of this came in the second and a half before he picked up his toddler and began to run.
His grandfather had been one of the scientist working for NASA during the 1969 moon landing and so growing up as a child he’d known plenty about aircraft and rockets and was familiar with sonic booms, the sounds waves often spine jarring and hair raising and so there was that fraction of a second when the whale started ordering him around, as if he had a gun, that he thought that's what it must have been.
But now saw some sort of a modern and unfamiliar looking craft, sort of like a more rounded XB-70 Valkyrie, hard to tell with the noxious looking haze that was filling the sky like an angry thunderhead in a hundred mile hour wind, and then tiny purplish-red particles seemed to be falling like razored-rain a half block away, where the people were screaming, running for cover and rubbing their burning eyes.
Yes, he was American and perhaps this gruff and screaming woman, who was still stuffing broccoli into her mouth while spewing all of her rage and was also demanding he protect her. Why? He figured it must have something to do with Trump in command and foreigners perceiving American’s as a gun-wielding, heroic bunch when it came to alien invasions.

Here is my entry.

He turned toward the entrance of the tunnel and bolted. The woman screamed behind him. He dared not turn around to see the beast's fangs. He hops off a car door, leaps to the left off of a rock, and does a wall run to cover the bridges gap.
He can feel the heat of the beast as it turns his gaze on him, the running meat bag. Five more steps and up the ladder races through his mind. One, two, three, four, f... he is tripped up by a pole sticking straight up from the ground. He face plants in the dirt, busting teeth as he slides to a violent halt.
He claws his way forward, but not fast enough. The creature is on top of him. He doesn't have to turn around to feel the intense heat the creature is giving off.
If only he had listened to his mother when she told him that today was not a good day to go out, ...

7 @tristancarax

vote is on your post 😄

He should have listened to his mother! Now he's in a pickle. I wonder what kind of creature it was?? Thanks for adding more!
