"If you loved me..."

I hear people say it all the time. Something happens. Someone makes a mistake. Someone gets hurt. Then suddenly, it's all over. But it's not over because they made a mistake. They're the same person they were when you first loved them. Or they're the future version of that same person. They didn't change. But you, you deluded yourself. Or you are deluding yourself. You think because they made some mistake that they don't love you. But they do. They alway did. Or they didn't. They either always loved you and likely always will, or they didn't.

What changed is that they made a mistake. Something happened. Something happened that you can't except. But can you forgive?

If someone did something that you would consider a betrayal, could you ever forgive?

If a girl you loved one night got drunk and kissed someone, would you blame them forever? Or would you be able to forgive them?

What does a moment of enjoyment with someone else do that changes everything? Why does that make everything between you suddenly mean nothing? Why can't you still love? What happened?

Or love it that you never loved them?

Was your love always conditional?

Conditional on them fulfilling a contract that they never signed...

Why?

Why must someone bow to your demands for you to love them. For them to be able to be loved.

You never loved them. You loved the idea of them. The idea that was painted in your mind from a little baby.

There is no Prince Charming and Snow White.

It's not happy ever after.

It's just another day.

It's every day.
