5-Minute Freewrite Prompt: Something She Doesn't Want to Recall

Sorry, if you are reading a duplicate of this post. I was trying to submit my post after finished with my writing. It showed 'transaction error', which finally I realized I have two of the same posts, like identical twins!!!! Since there are already some small payouts here and there, I guess I will keep both. So sorry! If cheetah comes, know this is not plagiarism but system error, I would say.

It has been a whole year since the incident. It still grips her heart as if it just happened yesterday. If only time can be turned back....

One year ago, she came home to her horror. Her whole place was in a huge mess and the furnitures were turned over. All cupboards and cabinets were opened and many things shattered on the floor. Her first reaction was, "Darryl!" HER SON! Please let him be alright.

She dashed out of the house to find police car alerts and there was a chase, it seemed. She ran as fast as she could, to search for her 16-year-old boy.

"Ma, I need some money urgently! Just give me what you have." That was the last conversation they had and it ended up badly with a fight. She was not going to give him anymore to join the bad company he was already in.

Mabel continued her search, she must find him before the police do. Or worse, before the gang do. He could be in great danger.

She suddenly remembered his favorite hideout when he was young. She quickly made her way there, but discreetly. It's their old abandoned barnhouse. She was right. He was there!

"Ma?" Darryl's voice shivered.

She quickly hugged him and asked what's wrong. He was smuggling some drugs for the gang to get money. The police tracked him down and the gang was trying to take the drugs from him but sacrifice him to be the scapegoat.

"Darling, turn yourself in. Repent when you still can." she said calmly.

"No, ma! I will be jailed. My future will be gone!"

"I will get lawyers for you. We have to acknowledge our wrongs and be responsible for them. It will be a life lesson for you. Besides, it will considered as a juvenile case."

"NOOOO!"Darryl ran out across the street.

Mabel ran after him, shouting after him. The siren was getting nearer and louder. Darryl suddenly stopped and it seemed he suddenly got to his senses. He was walking back to Mabel. He shouted from across, "Ma, you will wait for me to be freed, right? "

"Of course baby, as long as you repent!"

He smiled and looked straight at her, going back to her when suddenly a huge truck came out of nowhere and banged Darryl down, just like that. Someone got down, snatched the bag from his hands and fled. He was bleeding profusely. She ran to him instead, wailing.

She couldn't help but think if he did that for her. Oh her baby, it has been one whole year and it still hurts sooo much!
