5-Minute Freewrite Prompt: After Midnight

It was already after midnight. Sam slept earlier that night because she was having a throbbing headache. Suddenly she was waken up by some noises in the house.

Who can it be? It's already so late! Sam checked her table clock, it was showing 1205am.

"Shhhh!!!" She leaned her ears to her door. This is getting a bit nervous. Looking around her room, she decided to bring her baseball bat with her as she checked things out. Mind you, Sam is one of the baseball team players representing her university. She knows her "weapon" well. "You are so going to get this!"

With that, she sneaked out of her room, in order not to startle whoever is lurking around in the hall. She tip-toed her way out and she saw shadows swooshed past the hall. She hid in a corner behind the plants. She was waiting for an opportunity to jump out at the thieves or burglars.

She still heard whispers and then she saw them going towards the wall. "Now this is it! Stand right there!" Sam sprung out and shouted. She managed to hit one of the person nearest to her with the bat.

"OUCH!"

Just then, the lights came on and ....

"Surprise!!!!" It's all her friends and housemates. Her boyfriend, Lloyd was there too.

"What on earth? What's going on, dear?"

"it's after midnight and It's your birthday, silly! We lured you over with the sounds because we knew, with your personality, you won't just leave things be and true enough! but that was a strong blow from you, " Lloyd was still rubbing his arm that got hit. He knew his girlfriend well enough to know even with her headache earlier on she would get out of bed.

"Oh dear!! I hit your arm?! " Sam started to feel guilty. "Awww, you guys.... "

"Happy birthday!"
