Freewrite prompt: Kit

Denise had been feeling depressed for the past weeks after her break up. She felt she had done nothing well, or rather nothing was done.

Dishes. Undone.

Laundry. Undone.

Hair. Undone.

Grocery shopping. Undone.

Hmm.. Everything just seemed overwhelming and too overbearing for her. She drowned herself in only one thing that she found comfort in, desserts, desserts, and MORE DESSERTS.

There was this day when she was called in for some job interview. Everyone had been telling her to get it all together again and she had to come out to just change a new working environment since the ex worked in the same company. She put on her corporate wear, squeezed herself in, though it was uncomfortable for her to sit. She thought, "Let's just get over with it, shall we?" She pulled out her make-up kit which she had not used for a long time and just put some colours on her face that she couldn't even call that a make-up. She ditched everything except just a blusher and a lipstick. Most things in her kit had expired anyway.

She dragged herself out. Along the way, she realized some people were looking at her one kind and whispering behind her.

"Must be the make-up. I couldn't be bothered," Denise thought.

Suddenly, a little girl came over and passed her a sewing kit. "Mummy says you may need this."

The girl went back to her mom and Denise locked eyes with her. She gave an awkward smile but her eyes signaled Denise to her dress.

Denise started checking what she was wearing only to realize there was a big split or hole under her armpit. Oh dear. That was super embarrassing! It must have been all those desserts and why did she even wear that bodycon dress, without realizing she had put on so much? She felt like digging a hole to hide, and to perhaps mend the dress. Now, the question would be: Even after she manages to mend the dress, how could she ensure it won't "burst" again?

Just then, a guy came over to offer his coat to her. She had no clue that this was going to be her interviewer.
