Freewrite Prompt: Puzzle

in #freewrite6 years ago (edited)

Wallace had finally come to this day when he had to face the puzzle he always had in his life for 25 years. He had always been wondering but perhaps he had no courage to seek for the answer.

Since young, he was a smart and intelligent young prince. At the age of 12, he managed to solve a diplomatic problem between two neighbouring countries for his father, the king. He managed to go through a severe test of the heart and soul at the age of 15, where many had gone in but none came out alive. Because of him being so outstanding, he became the crowned prince, a rightful heir to his father's throne. Everyone deemed him worthy.

However, he had always been seeing his queen mother meeting his uncle secretly. He knew all of this since he was a young boy and he was ashamed. He felt bad the whole time for his father, the king. He could not understand why but to protect their reputation, he buried this secret beneath his heart.

At the same time, he also was puzzled why his father would feed a certain medicine to his queen mother everyday and she would submit. He dared not question his father too.

Wallace tried to escape from this scandal so he ran away to learn martial arts in somewhere far away until one day, he received letter from his father that he needed to go to war with his uncle.

With mixed feelings, he returned to the king, only to receive orders that his uncle had started a rebellion and he was given the order to kill him. Wallace had no choice but to do as the king said.

In the meantime, the king had captured his mother and locked her up. He went to see her and told her he knew all this while Wallace wasn't his biological son.

"But why isn't he mine? All my life I had been competing with my brother and not even this son that I favour is mine?!" he gave his sinister laugh. "It's time we reveal this puzzle for Wallace but I will let him know only after he kills your lover!"

"No! You cannot do that to Wallace! You cannot let him live with guilt his whole life! Please, I plead with you. You can kill me off. It all started with me," the queen pleaded with the king again and again, wailing.

"This is what I have planned for 20 years, a revenge I seek for your betrayal to me, " he walked away as he said this behind his back.

However, there is another truth that only the previous generation knew - The king took away his brother's lover upon his ascension to the throne. He couldn't bear to see his brother having all the admiration from everyone, including their own parents. Even his throne was given to him because the parents knew of a curse that every king would not live beyond 40, so they spared his brother but put him up instead.

Now that's another piece of puzzle that Wallace may be devastated about. When all the pieces of puzzle are put together, he would realize that all this happened because of insecurities of the previous generations while he was in the midst of all this though he is actually innocent. While he had been sympathizing and respecting his king father all this while, his father schemed for this revenge just to put a huge dismay between him and his biological father, so much so the king wanted to see the son kills his own biological father.

When the uncle (who is actually the biological father) learnt that his own biological son was sent to war against him, he had to face Wallace in the battlefield. He knew that only when he died, Wallace would be protected and still be the heir to the throne. After all, he started this war to actually want to protect and save both the queen from continuing the poison from the king and Wallace from the evil schemes of his own brother.

So, who do you think is the one really suffering in the end? Actually, who started the whole cycle of betrayal? There were just too many pieces of puzzle that led to the final outcome.

I took an extra 3+ minutes to complete the above story, though actually I still wish to write longer. As you all may know now, I write stories based on some dramas I watched. One of my favorite dramas had finally ended yesterday so I wrote this in view of remembering that drama. However this is just a fiction, and you know the drama in Chinese drama.

Another one done then...

What a story... Not exactly the ending I was looking forward to but then in life it never is

Yeah but thank God this is a fiction!! :P

715 words in 7 minutes, that makes it over 100 wpm and I can't even type that fast lmao.

Pretty interesting story, this is indeed one huge puzzle...if you manage to put this puzzle together, probably you will get another piece of puzzle to solve another puzzle, and it repeats...that's life in some ways eh?

Sorry it was a typo, I took extra 3+ minutes. Meant to type '3' instead of '2'. The story is still quite fresh in my mind because I finished it at 4am this morning and I have been telling my another friend about it whole day, oops!!! The story line is so complicated that I kept thinking about the different pieces of puzzle that led to the whole picture Hahaha.

Thanks for coming by @Lilacse :) I can type faster if I don't stop to think and faster on phone than on laptop.

See You There!😀

Heheh thank you. Indeed the burning fits well but I guess I have to pause from writing about the drama. Lol. Everyone knows I'm deeply 'poisoned' already. Or maybe I will continue :P

So scandalous
And the best part is all families have skeletons in their closet 😬

You are so right about the skeletons in their closet. Everyone has their own story to tell. The puzzle pieces are so puzzling!

Wow, another greatly done freewrite. Cheers

That's a mystery that every sought to find out. I guess every family has their own issue that it only can be solved if every pours their heart out to speak about it.

This is so true @explorernations. If only everyone did talk and not keep all the secrets to themselves.
